"It was my first visit to Theodore Roosevelt National Park in North Dakota to see the wild horses. I came across a small band of horses led by a beautiful sorrel stallion with a wide blaze and four socks. He was moving his mares and strutting around trying to impress them. I decided to sculpt him with his mane flowing in every direction. Flax is still free in the park today."
