"I traveled from Florida to Utah in the fall of 2019 to see the Onaqui wild horses. I camped at the foot of the mountains for a week as I observed them and took many photos and videos of them. I used my photos as reference for the painting and added some of my favorite stallions. In July of 2021 most of the wild horses there were rounded up by helicopters by the government and taken to dry, dirt holding pens. The good news is that they were all adopted out into homes, but I will always remember them living wild and free near the Onaqui Mountains."
